Election of new Committee Chairperson following ministerial appointment of previous chair

Mogadishu, Somalia – 23 April 2025: The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, Hon. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, chaired a session of the Budget, Finance, Planning, International Cooperation, and Financial Oversight Committee at Villa Hargeisa. The meeting focused on electing a new chairperson following the appointment of MP Mohamed Farah Nur as Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation. MP Abdi Ibrahim Warsame (Qawdhan) was elected Chair. The Deputy Speaker encouraged the new Chair to accelerate oversight of government spending, strengthen accountability, and enhance financial governance, and members pledged their support.
