High-level constitutional review meeting with Speakers, Oversight Committee, and ICRIC to accelerate finalization

Mogadishu, Somalia – 23 April 2025: The Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), and the Speaker of the Upper House, H.E. Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, convened a high-level meeting with the Joint Oversight Committee on Constitutional Review and the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission (ICRIC). The session brought together parliamentary leadership, including deputy speakers, chief whips, and secretaries general of both Houses. The Committees presented a comprehensive report on progress to date, including public consultations across federal member states, remaining constitutional chapters under review, and the roadmap for tabling final sections before Parliament. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to accelerate the constitutional finalization process to reinforce stability, strengthen governance, and advance Somalia’s state-building agenda.
