Mogadishu, Somalia – 22 April 2025: The Human Rights, Women, and Humanitarian Affairs Committee met with the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Hon. Ali Yusuf (Ali Xoosh), at Villa Hargeisa. Chaired by MP Adar Ali Mohamed in her capacity as committee secretary and acting chairperson, the session focused on the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Bill, now at its second reading. The Minister and his team outlined their work on displacement management, federalism, and reconciliation, and how these align with parliamentary processes. Committee members questioned the Ministry’s approach and stressed the importance of ensuring that the bill responds to the needs of Somalia’s displaced populations. The Chair underscored the need for sustained coordination between Parliament and the executive to advance human rights, social justice, and inclusive governance.
