Swearing-in of new MP replacing outgoing member; prepare agenda for upcoming weekly session

Mogadishu, Somalia – 25 August 2025: The Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Adan Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), presided over a session of the Permanent/Standing Committee at Villa Hargeisa. The session began with the swearing-in of MP Ali Mohamud Mohamed, replacing Dr. Ali Said Fiqi, who became Speaker of the South West State House of Representatives. The oath was administered by Deputy Speaker Hon. Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan (Nuux). The Committee then prepared for the upcoming weekly session, reviewing the agenda and ensuring readiness for deliberation on several important draft laws. The Speaker urged members to ensure full coordination ahead of the parliamentary sittings.
