Swearing-in of new MPs and officials; discussion on non-implementation of Civil Servants Law (Law No. 11)

Mogadishu, Somalia – 03 July 2025: The Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), together with the First Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sadia Yasin Haji Samatar, presided over the weekly Standing Committee meeting at Villa Hargeisa. The session opened with the swearing-in of newly elected Members of Parliament and recently appointed government officials, administered by the Sergeant-at-Arms, Hon. Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan Nuux. The Committee then discussed the non-implementation of the Civil Servants Law (Law No. 11), expressing concern that the lack of enforcement had undermined efficiency and transparency in public institutions. The Standing Committee tasked the Social Services Development Committee and the Justice Committee to investigate and prepare a report for the upcoming general sessions. The Speaker emphasized the importance of enforcing laws passed by Parliament to ensure accountable governance.
