Election of new Chairperson of the Somalia–Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Committee

Mogadishu, Somalia – 19 May 2025: Members of the bicameral committee responsible for parliamentary friendship with the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye convened at Villa Hargeisa to elect a new chairperson. MP Qaali Ali Shire was unanimously elected Chairperson of the Somalia–Türkiye Parliamentary Friendship Committee. She pledged to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy and deepen cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye. Members emphasized the strategic importance of the bilateral relationship and committed to working collectively under the new leadership.
