10th regular session: set plenary agenda, prioritize bills, address internal security incident in Parliament

Mogadishu, Somalia – 01 May 2025: The Second Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Abdullahi Omar Abshirow, chaired the 10th regular session of the Permanent/Standing Committee at Villa Hargeisa. Members agreed to prioritize draft laws for next week’s plenary sittings and addressed an internal security incident that occurred in Parliament on 30 April 2025. The Speaker, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), issued an official letter to the Rules Committee barring certain MPs from attending sittings due to security concerns and disruptive behavior. The Deputy Speaker urged members to intensify their work to ensure both legislative progress and a secure, orderly parliamentary environment.
