Strategic committee workplan; accelerate oversight; prioritize pending legislation under new leadership

Mogadishu, Somalia – 27 April 2025: The Committee on Budget, Finance, Planning, International Cooperation, and Financial Oversight of Public Institutions convened a strategic consultation meeting at Villa Hargeisa, chaired by its newly elected Chairperson, MP Abdi Ibrahim Warsame (Qawdhan). Members discussed ways to accelerate the committee’s work, prioritize pending legislation, and strengthen oversight and accountability across ministries and public institutions. The Chairperson pledged to revitalize the committee’s structure and ensure tangible legislative and oversight outcomes. Members expressed full support for the new leadership and reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and financial accountability.
